Core Game Play

Teddy Bear Massacre is a unique game that puts the players in the roles of a ragtag group of misfit toys who are at war with the other toys in the house. Players start with a small number of characters and units available, and build up as they defeat and recruit more toys from other parts of the house.
The toys that the player can interact with have their own quirky personalities, and their interaction is what creates most of the humor within the game. No matter what toy the player chooses to use, the others will provide amusing radio chatter and commentary.
Each area of the home has a specific theme, or ‘feel’, to it. Rival toy groups will inhabit the various areas outside of the player’s home base, and are hostile to the player. These groups have their own strengths and weaknesses. The player must conquer each area in turn, using strategy to plan their best attacks. Defences are also a priority, as the rival toys will retaliate and attack the player’s base until they are completely defeated.
Exploration is encouraged, as players can find a multitude of parts hidden around the home, and utilize them however they think is best. Even if players have every part available, not everything can be built, since the parts are limited. So they must carefully pick and choose what they want to upgrade, build up, or create.
Players can create new weapons, vehicles, and upgrades to their base using the parts found. There is no ultimate combination – each will have their own strengths and weaknesses, so multiplayer will not consist of players using all the same weapons and vehicles.

Breakdown:

- Third Person Shooter with some Real Time Strategy elements
- Humorous narrative flows directly with the game play
- Players have the freedom to choose which goal they want to achieve first
- Players can build new weapons and vehicles using parts they find, as well as build up defences for their base
- Characters have unique skills to utilize in single and multi-player, and teamwork is encouraged

Characters

Name: Sarge
Type of toy: Teddy Bear
Distinguishing characteristics: He is an older model, with frayed edges and fur. He is missing an eye, and has an amateur sew job over the scar.
Brief Description: Sarge is the one calling the shots. Besides the 'General', he's the oldest toy in the house. Though he may appear cuddly, he's no-nonsense, and doesn't tolerate failure well. His voice is deep and gruff to contradict his cute appearance. He'll rattle off orders to any toy in range, regardless if they're serving under him. Some of his attack plans may seem insane, but they work… most of the time. And never ask him how he lost his eye.
Special Skills: Can issue commands to special units to attack.
Close Combat: D
Ranged Combat: B
Explosives: C
Commands: A
Stealth: C

Name: The General
Type of toy: Action figure marine
Distinguishing characteristics: His joints have become stiff, and his paint job is scuffed. His hair used to be black, but so much color has faded over the years that it's become gray and patchy.
Brief Description: The General is the oldest toy in the house. Consequentially, he's also the most senile and forgetful. He frequently lapses into memories of old battles, and addresses the other toys as his old comrades in arms. Still, when he does become lucid, he's full of useful advice and cunning battle plans.
Special Skills: Non-playable, though he can be unlocked for multiplayer use.
Close Combat: C
Ranged Combat: B
Explosives: B
Commands: B
Stealth: C

Name: Barb
Type of toy: Barbara doll.
Distinguishing characteristics: Her right arm was replaced by a muscle-bound action figure arm, and the right side of her head is missing hair. She's chopped the rest of her hair short to compensate.
Brief Description: Barb used to be a normal, carefree Barbara doll, until she ran into the Bixnatchz dollz - the all-female gang run in the girls' bedroom. They pretended to let her join, then tricked her into detonating a bomb that tore apart the upper right side of her body. Barb changed from her near-death experience, from carefree to a grim intensity. She refused a normal replacement arm and took an action figure's arm instead, so she could have the strength to carry better weapons. Her new goal is revenge. She can be recruited once you agree to help her take out the Bixnatchz dollz.
Special Skills: She can wield a two handed gun with her right arm alone, and carry a smaller gun in her normal arm.
Close Combat: B
Ranged Combat: A
Explosives: D
Commands: C
Stealth: C

Name: Mandarr
Type of toy: Action Figure
Distinguishing characteristics: He is overly muscled with a loincloth as his only clothing.
Brief Description: The victim of the 80s muscle-man phase, Mandarr is a toy based off an old cartoon of the same name. He is overly sensitive about any weakness he may display, and frequently makes a show of his strength to anyone watching. He secretly loves romance novels. He was kicked out of the boys’ room after being caught reading one, and has been in a slump ever since.
Special Skills: Can knock back enemies at close range with his strength.
Close Combat: A
Ranged Combat: C
Explosives: B
Commands: D
Stealth: C

Name: Bob
Type of toy: Miniature crash test dummy
Distinguishing characteristics: Bob has numerous burns and scratches all over him. His limbs are loose and frequently come undone.
Brief Description: Bob is constantly cheerful and carefree, despite his history of being caught in explosions – mostly those he created himself. He loves coming up with new ways to blow things up. Off the mine field, he is clumsy and uncoordinated, but literally pulls himself together when he needs to. His cheery attitude endears him to the other toys… mostly. He can be recruited after you find the parts he needs for a new explosive he’s working on.
Special Skills: Won’t die from explosives, though he takes a few seconds to rejoin his limbs when he does.
Close Combat: C
Ranged Combat: C
Explosives: A
Commands: B
Stealth: D

Name: Incog
Type of toy: Bloxman
Distinguishing characteristics: Incog has no distinguishing characteristics, or a set appearance, since it is constantly changing out its parts to look different. It has no gender, or none it will reveal. Incog either cannot or will not speak, either.
Brief Description: Incog was discovered as a spy inside of a rival toy group, and was taken apart and scattered to silence it. The player can recruit Incog after locating all its parts: head, torso, legs, and arms. These are scattered around the house. After fixing Incog, it will join the player.
Special Skills: Incog can take on the appearance of rival toys and walk safely in their territory to scout and spy, but only at a distance. If Incog is spotted too close to a rival toy, it will be noticed and attacked. In multiplayer, Incog won’t appear on anyone’s minimap.
Close Combat: B
Ranged Combat: C
Explosives:C
Commands: D
Stealth: A

Game Physics and Statistics

The game physics should be semi-realistic and over exaggerated. Much like a cartoon, everything should be overdone. When something blows up, pieces should fly across the room. Explosions are bigger, and jumps higher. Gun-like weapons used by the characters should not throw them back, unless they are explosive.
Vehicles will slow down on an incline, and speed up dramatically more than realism on declining terrain, except if the vehicles are hovering or flying. Everything, including the players driving them, should bump and jump more, to create a cartoonish atmosphere. Too many bumps or extreme upsets of the vehicles would send the characters in them flying, and take damage when they do.

Multiplayer

Teddy Bear Massacre will be able to play both offline and online multiplayer. Offline multiplayer on consoles will support two to four players, depending on the number of controllers usable. For PC, LAN connections will be able to host as much as an online multiplayer. Online multiplayer for consoles and PC will be able to host as many as twenty-four players in a match.
At first, only two maps are available to play. The same goes for new weapons and vehicles. Players must first complete the missions in solo-play to unlock new maps in multiplayer, and create and unlock the weapons and vehicles in the same fashion. In a hosted match, the choices available will be the ones that the host has unlocked.
Players cannot play through the story in multiplayer, however. They can choose to play head-to-head, cooperative vs. AI, or team play.
Head-to-Head: Players can control a team of AI and fight against the opposing player’s team, or play in a solo match and duke it out one on one.
Cooperative: As many as twelve players can play co-op together against a team of AI. The AI can be tweaked with a difficulty setting. The settings will be Easy, Normal, Hard, or Insane.
Team Play: Up to six teams of four players each can compete against other players for supremacy.

All multiplayer modes have options the players can choose. In hosted matches, the host will choose the options.
Options in multiplayer:
- Choose the map
- Choose your character
- Time limit off/on, and length
- Type of match
- Choose a team if match is team play
- Number of deaths allowed, plus toggle on/off
- Number and types of weapons allowed
- Number and types of vehicles allowed

Sorry, not feeling too great, so I'll post the rest tomorrow.. I'll email too.
